Glenn Pleickhardt, owner of G.T.S. Towing and Recovery of Port Richey, stands on a car being towed out of a pond in the Jasmine Lakes subdivision Sunday. The driver, who evidently tried to drown himself by driving into the pond in the Jasmine Lakes subdivision, was taken into custody for a psychiatric evaluation by a doctor, according to the Pasco County Sheriff's Office. The 71-year-old Port Richey-area resident apparently changed his mind after the car left Jasmine Boulevard and entered the water shortly after 9 a.m.; he somehow got himself out of the car, which was submerged in about five feet of water, according to Pasco Sgt. Roger Hoefs. Under the provisions of the Baker Act, which applies to people who appear to pose a threat to themselves, the man's name was not released. Hoefs did not have an explanation from the man for what he had done.
