Residents this morning will have a chance to tell city staff what they think of a proposed realignment of the intersection of Highland Avenue and Virginia and Main streets. The staff will discuss its proposal at an informal meeting at 10 a.m. in City Hall, 542 Main St. The realignment calls for Virginia Street, which carries traffic one way east, to be changed to one way west. Highland Avenue between Main and Wood streets would carry one-way traffic south away from the intersection and would contain angled parking spaces. "Our biggest concern is the way the intersection works," said planning director Richard Follett. "It's very awkward."
