Army Sgt. Freddie L. Whitehead Jr. has been decorated with the Good Conduct Medal at Hunter Army Airfield in Georgia, where he is an infantryman. He is the son of Freddie and Delores Whitehead of St. Petersburg. The medal is awarded for exemplary conduct while in the active service of the United States. Army Pvt. Stephen D. Browder has completed basic training at Fort Knox, Ky. He is the son of Marilyn Rowin of Treasure Island and Joe A. Browder of Bartlett, Tenn. Browder is a 1990 graduate of Bartlett High School, Tennessee.
Army Sgt. Patrick O. Blount, an operating room specialist at Tripler Army Medical Center, Hawaii, has received an associate degree from the University of Honolulu. Blount is the son of Minnie Hawkins of St. Petersburg. While on active duty, military members are encouraged to further their education through off-duty programs. Many educational programs for service members are subsidized through tuition assistance or veterans' benefits. Blount is a 1983 graduate of Pinellas Park High School.
Air Force Tech Sgt. Jeffrey D. Hixson has graduated from an Air Force major command non-commissioned officer academy at Eglin Air Force Base, where he is a job control supervisor. Hixson is the son of Dean and Bonnie Hixson of St. Petersburg. He is a 1970 graduate of St. Petersburg High School.
Air Force Sgt. Michael C. Brizzi recently completed noncommissioned officer training and was promoted to his current rank at Sembach Air Base, Germany, where he is serving as a security specialist. Brizzi is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Brizzi of St. Petersburg. He is a 1985 graduate of Admiral Farrgut Academy.
Army 2nd Lt. Dallas C. Jackson recently received a commission through the Army ROTC Program. Jackson is the son of Millie and James Jackson of St. Petersburg. Jackson is a 1986 graduate of Northeast High School and has earned a bachelor's degree at Southern University, Baton Rouge, La.
Army Maj. Clifford P. Graham, son of Mr. and Mrs. Donald V. Graham of Treasure Island, recently was promoted to his current rank during ceremonies at the U.S. Military Academy, West Point, N.Y. Graham, a 1979 graduate of West Point, has been teaching at the Academy since receiving his master's degree from the University of Florida, Gainesville, in 1988. An expert on Brazil, Graham will report to Language School in Monterey, Calif., prior his next assignment.
Army Pvt. Michael J. Blanchard has returned from Operation Desert Storm in Saudi Arabia. Blanchard is a member of the 82nd Airborne Division, which is based at Fort Bragg, Fayetteville, N.C. Blanchard, a combat engineer, is a 1990 graduate of Pinellas Park High School.
Air Force Sgt. Donald D. Malloch III, a law enforcement specialist, has arrived for duty at Homestead Air Force Base. Malloch is the son of Don and Cynthia Malloch of Nephi, Utah, and the son-in-law of Larry and Sally Roberts of St. Petersburg.
Army Capt. David A. Fox, son of Doris Sillik Fox of St. Petersburg, will be returning home after serving in the Middle East as Company Commander at H.H.C. 143rd Signal Battalion, Saudi Arabia. After a brief homecoming visit in St. Petersburg, he will return to his duty station in Frankfurt, Germany.

LaShore recently returned from deployment to the Middle East where they served aboard the aircraft carrier USS America, based in Norfolk, Va. Hill is the son of James and Madge Hill of St. Petersburg, and LaShore is the son of William and JoAnn Bryant of St. Petersburg.
