Housing auction set for Saturday

The federal Resolution Trust Corp. will conduct an auction of single-family homes, condominiums, townhouses, duplexes and triplexes, including 13 Tampa properties, Saturday at the Marriott Westshore, 1001 N West Shore Blvd. Registration begins at 11 a.m.; the auction, at 1 p.m. No minimum bids will be set at the auction.

Potential bidders must be certified in advance as qualified buyers. For a certification appointment, call the United Methodist Center, 221-5116, or the County Housing and Community Development Department, 623-2881.

To be eligible, bidders are limited to a total household annual income of $33,600 or less for a two-person household or $38,640 or less for a three-person household. Larger households may have slightly higher income limits.

For prequalification, bidders must supply information on:

Income, including wage verification in the form of a payroll check stub, W-2 form, income tax return or employer statement.

Additional sources of income.

Expenses, including current balance and monthly payment amounts for auto loans, credit cards or other revolving accounts.

If divorced, a copy of the divorce settlement agreement.

Successful bidders must post a $500 deposit in cash or certified check. Mortgage financing assistance will be available through the Florida Housing Finance Agency, Federal Housing Administration, Veterans Administration and the Resolution Trust Corp.
