Now you can buy a bit o' blarney

Whether you want the gift of eloquence or just a piece of the rock, soon you will be able to buy a chunk of Blarney stone. A New York company plans to market, for $30 each, bits of limestone rock from the quarry used to build Blarney Castle, home of the stone that, according to legend, will turn you into a fine orator if you kiss it.

Almost 250,000 people a year climb up the castle tower and lean over backwards on a 90-foot high parapet to plant their lips on the stone. The promoters of the scheme estimate up to 800,000 Americans may be tempted to buy the specially mounted rocks over the next three years.
