Firefighters think child caused apartment fire

A 3{-year-old child playing with a butane lighter in a clothes closet is thought to have caused $5,000 to $10,000 in smoke and fire damage at a Darby Lane apartment Tuesday night. Neither the child nor the woman caring for her, Nolita Tennant, was injured in the blaze at Tennant's apartment. The fire was under control by the time the Brooksville Fire Department arrived, Chief Jim Adkins said. The name of the child was not released. Adkins said that the fire at the Norbourne Estates apartment complex at 600 Darby Lane was confined to a small area, but that smoke damage was extensive. "There was combustible material in the closet, and it burned," Adkins said. The contents of the apartment were not insured, Adkins said.Moving day nears
