Adair, one of two manatees set to be released today after a recuperative stay at the Homosassa Springs State Wildlife Park, will be staying awhile longer, park officials said Wednesday. Doctors recently discovered that Adair is pregnant; therefore, she'll remain at the park until a special vehicle can be built for her to travel in. Ernie, the other manatee set to be released, will be taken this morning to the Banana River in the Merritt Island Wildlife Refuge and set free. Both animals had been injured by crab trap lines and have been living at the state park for three years. Officials said they expect to release Adair before she gives birth.Big day!
