Bill Larson's 155-pound tarpon earned the Largo resident $12,600 last Saturday as he captured first place in the Tarpon Tide Tournament at Boca Grande. Fishing aboard the Sombrero Queen II with Capt. Don Starner, Larson landed the big fish in just under 25 minutes to cash in. Larson, a law student at Golden Gate University in San Francisco, enticed the winning tarpon with a live shrimp. "He's been walking on air the past couple days," said Larson's mother Middy. "It's great. All the money goes to the starving student."

The Old Salt Fishing Club's 20th annual Billfish Tournament scheduled for this weekend has been postponed until next weekend. Boats still can register for $750. For information, call 399-2052 or 393-8805.
