A record ticket sale fails to help St. Petersburg

The crowd was announced as a record, but it didn't help the St. Petersburg Cardinals Friday night as they lost to the Charlotte Rangers 4-3 in 11 innings. Although there was some question whether all ticket buyers showed up, Cardinals officials said 6,851 tickets were sold for St. Petersburg Area Chamber of Commerce Night, breaking the previous mark of 6,747 set last year.

The Rangers got their winning run when Tim Morrow's sacrifice fly to deep center scored Cris Colon from third.
