Part-time actor says shot in gut will be a blast

Published Oct. 13, 2005

The president of a Tampa security business will be shot in the stomach on national television. And he will like it. Hugh Farrior, president of Safe At Home Inc., said in a statement that he is "elated to have been chosen to receive the violent shotgun blast. This was one of my lifetime goals."

Farrior, a part-time actor when not managing his two home-security stores in Tampa, recently landed a role in an Unsolved Mysteries segment that will air this fall. He has made more than 50 commercials and appeared in a couple of Disney movies and a Miami Vice episode.

"This is the largest television part I've had yet," he said. "It's kind of funny getting shot when my life has centered around making people's lives safer. On the other hand, I guess I'm playing a small part (no pun intended) in a large effort to catch a murderer."

The murder occurred more than two years ago in Bradenton. A woman was fatally stabbed, and her escort was seriously wounded in the stomach.
