College campuses are the first-day sites for two new postal items. A stamp honoring former vice president Hubert H. Humphrey was dedicated last week at the University of Minnesota and a postcard featuring "Old Red," a landmark building of the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston, will be unveiled at that campus Friday.
The 52-cent Humphrey stamp, which carries the 2-ounce letter rate, shows an official U.S. Senate photo of Humphrey. The 19-cent "Old Red" postcard hails the 100th anniversary and shows a front view of the oldest medical-school building west of the Mississippi.
First-day cancellations of both issues are available in the two usual ways. If you want the Postal Service to supply the item, send payment in the form of a personal check or money order.
The deadline for ordering Humphrey covers is July 3 and for Old Red covers July 14.
