University of South Florida Alumni Association has won the silver medal from the Council for Advancement and Support of Education. Along with the USF association, the University of Iowa, the University of Michigan and the University of Notre Dame were recognized. USF Alumni Association has more than 10,000 members worldwide.


Consolidated Minerals Inc., 1616 14th St. S, Leesburg, recently selected Post, Buckley, Schuh and Jernigan Inc., 5300 W Cypress St., Tampa, to perform master survey and civil engineering services for development of a 1400-acre light-industrial park at U.S. 92 and Park Road in Plant City.


Charles Schwab and Co. Inc. recently announced the opening of a branch office at First Florida Tower, 102 E Kennedy Blvd., Tampa. Michelle Schneider will be the branch manager. She is a vice president of the company.


The Moss Speech and Language Center Inc. has opened an office at 1224 66th St. N, St. Petersburg. Ellen N. Moss has been in private practice as a speech-language pathologist for three years. Before moving to the area, she was in private practice in Boston and also taught at Boston University.


Olin Ordnance, 10101 M.L. King (Ninth) St. N, St. Petersburg, the division headquarters of Olin Corp., Stamford, Conn., has received two contracts from the U.S. Army. The first award out of Rock Island, Ill., is for about 2.6-million pounds of ball powder ammunition propellant and is valued at $15.4-million. It will be manufactured at Olin's facility in St. Marks. The second award, from the Army's Picatinny Arsenal in New Jersey, is for 20-millimeter multipurpose trace, self-destruct ammunition, used in the Vulcan air defense system. It will be manufactured at Olin's facility in Marion, Ill.


Howard P. Rives III and Marie T. Rives recently formed Rives and Rives, P.A., 1265 S Myrtle Ave., Clearwater. The practice concentrates in the areas of real estate, business law, commercial litigation, and estate and probate matters.
