An unidentified St. Petersburg man was killed early Sunday in a one-car accident on Interstate 75 near Parrish. The Florida Highway Patrol said the man was a passenger in a 1984 Chevrolet driven by Sukhum Iamjangpar, 34, of 3562 36th St. N, St. Petersburg. Iamjangpar apparently fell asleep as the car was northbound on the highway about 6 a.m., police said. The car ran off the road, over some bushes and hit a tree. The passenger was killed on impact, police said.
Neither the driver nor the passenger was wearing a seat belt. Iamjangpar was treated at Tampa General Hospital and released.
The passenger's next of kin had not been notified Sunday night, so his name was not being released. The investigation was continuing Sunday.
