Former NFL greats including Jim Taylor of the Green Bay Packers, Dick "Night Train" Lane of the Los Angeles Rams and Tommy Kramer of the Minnesota Vikings are among the many celebrities available to play golf with at the Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) Charity Golf Tournament on Monday. Arvida River Hills Golf and Country Club will host the Bay area's first "Heros of the Heart" national SIDS charity tournament.
To play in a foursome with one of the celebritites will cost a contribution of $250. All proceeds will benefit the Southwest SIDS Institute in Lake Jackson, Texas.

Basketball camp: The Bobby Paschal Basketball Camp, which features individualized attention and competition, begins in mid-June. The first session, a day camp (8:30-noon each day), is for boys ages 6-13 and runs June 17-21. The tuition fee is $85. The second session is for boys ages 10-18 and has sessions June 23-27. The fee is $235 for an overnight camper, $175 for a commuter. The final session is for teams (grades 9-12) and goes from July 28 to Aug. 1. The fees are $225 for overnighters, $165 for commuters.
All overnight campers will be housed two to a room, four per suite, in Fontana Hall, at the USF campus. They must bring their own towels, pillows, linens, personal supplies, alarm clocks, swimsuits, practice clothes and shoes, and casual clothes.

Tennis: The Cheval Tennis Center is offering camps for three age groups in five two-week-long sessions, Tuesday through Friday each week. The camps, which are open to non-Cheval members, will meet from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with early drop-off and late pick-up services available. Each two-week session is $180 for non-members. Two or more children of one family receive a 10-percent discount. The first camp session is June 11-21, the second June 25-July 5, the third July 9-19, the fourth July 23-Aug. 2, and the last Aug. 6-16.

Quickness camp: Randy Smythe, a consultant for the Dallas Cowboys and other National Football League teams, will share his techniques for better running, jumping and reacting at a quickness camp at the Brandon Recreation Center June 27-29. Cost is $68.
