Actress Julia Roberts, the star of the movie Pretty Woman, has put off her marriage to actor Kiefer Sutherland at the last minute, her spokeswoman said Tuesday. Publicist Pat Kingsley said both Roberts and Sutherland had both decided on the postponement. "It was a mutual decision," she said. The couple was to have married Friday.
Roberts, 23, and Sutherland, 24, met two years ago and have been Hollywood's hottest item ever since.
The ceremony, which was to have been held on the 20th Century Fox film lot, had been billed as the "Hollywood Wedding of the Decade" by entertainment magazines.
The 11th-hour postponement took everyone by surprise. Just last week, Roberts' agent, Elaine Goldsmith, had a bridal shower for her.
"There was absolutely no hint that the wedding would be put off. Everyone was having a great time and looking forward to it," said an industry source who attended the party and spoke on condition of anonymity.
Roberts and Sutherland are to star together in Renegades next year.
Roberts was previously engaged to actor Dylan McDermott, who she met during the filming of Steel Magnolias.
Sutherland married actress Camelia Kath when he was 20.
