Home invasion suspects elude deputies after chase

Published Oct. 10, 2005

Three suspects in a Ruskin home invasion led Hillsborough sheriff's deputies on a 15-mile chase up Interstate 75 Tuesday night before eluding them somewhere near Progress Village, officials said.

Deputies used dogs and a helicopter to search for the men in the woods east of Progress Village, but had not found them as of about 11:30 p.m., officials said.

The men invaded a home at 709 Fourth Ave. SE just after 9 p.m., officials said. There were no injuries, officials said.

The men fled in a Mustang that may have been stolen on Dale Mabry Highway earlier Tuesday, officials said. The car was found near Bloomingdale Avenue and U.S. 301, which is near the junction of I-75 and 301, officials said.
