Jo Ann Sanders has agreed to pay an undisclosed amount of money to settle a lawsuit filed by a woman whose husband was murdered in Mrs. Sanders' house, court records show. Nancy Clark, widow of Jerry Lee Clark, sued Mrs. Sanders and alleged that she failed to warn her husband of possible danger in the house Aug. 3, 1990; Mrs. Clark also accused Mrs. Sanders of negligent behavior. Jerry Clark and three other men were killed that day in what authorities considered a botched murder-for-hire plan that missed its main target: Mrs. Sanders. Mrs. Clark's lawyer, Michael J. Babboni of St. Petersburg, said he could not discuss terms of the settlement. Mrs. Sanders' lawyer, Robert D. Keough of Orlando, did not return a telephone message Wednesday afternoon.
While discussing a criminal defendant's marital status Tuesday, County Judge Gary Graham asked the man's pregnant fiancee, "Is it his baby?" Because of an unclear audio tape of the proceedings, the Times reported Wednesday that Graham said, "Is it getting bigger?"
