UT posts 98-69 rout of Monarchs

Tampa used a pair of big second-half runs to crush Saint Leo 98-69 Wednesday night in the Sunshine State Conference (SSC) and end a three-game losing streak.

DeCarlo Deveaux scored 23 points and Mike Rouse had five steals and 11 assists as seven Spartans scored eight or more points.

Rouse also held Saint Leo's Tyrone Graves to seven points, 15 below his average.

"Mike Rouse did a super job on Graves tonight," said Tampa coach Richard Schmidt.

Saint Leo (6-16, 0-8) led only once and trailed at halftime 44-38. The Monarchs got to within 49-45 early in the second half before a 13-2 run by the Spartans (17-4, 4-4) put the game out of reach.
