Cougars top Gibbs, go to 23-0

Junior Sabrina Crump scored 23 points and had 10 steals as Countryside routed Gibbs 67-47 Thursday in a Pinellas County Athletic Conference girls basketball game.

The Cougars, ranked No.

3 in the Class 4A state poll, wrapped up their first undefeated regular season: 23-0 overall, 14-0 in the PCAC.

"It's an accomplishment you can't ever beat," said Countryside coach John Napoli, whose team begins the Class 4A, District 7 tournament Feb.

With the score 7-7, Countryside went on a 11-0 run behind Dawn Jenkins' three-pointer at the first-quarter buzzer and Crump's four baskets to start the second quarter.

Karen Gorlewski had 12 points for Countryside and Jenkins hit three three-pointers to end with nine points. Gibbs (9-7, 8-6) was led by Karen Tucker's 13 points.
