Festival celebrates the sea

Dolphins, sea turtles, games, prizes and everything you might want to know about the sea and its wildlife will be available this weekend as the Clearwater Marine Science Center presents its Romance With the Sea festival.

In addition to the science center's usual exhibits, the festival will feature games and exhibits by several other environmental organizations. Admission on Saturday and Sunday will be reduced to $1.

"It's an awareness event to get people informed not only about our activities but other environmental activities out there," said Dennis Kellenberger, director of the science center.

The first Romance With the Sea in 1987 attracted 12,000 people during a two-day weekend.

Other organizations with exhibits at the festival include Sea World, Weeki Wachee Spring, The Pier Aquarium, the Suncoast Seabird Sanctuary, the Environmental Careers Organization, Helping Our Wildlife, Clearwater recycling and Caladesi and Honeymoon Island state parks.
