King captured its first Western Conference title in 15 years with a convincing 60-42 win over visiting Brandon in girls basketball Thursday.
Three Lions starters scored in double figures. April Lindsey had a game-high 17 points and Kerri Dodds had a career-best 16. Karmen Gadsden scored 10 of her 14 points in the second quarter, enabling King to lead 35-14 at the half.
Brandon (18-4) took a 6-2 lead, but was outscored 10-2 in the remainder of the first quarter.
King (23-2) delivered the knockout blow in the second quarter when it scored the first nine points to lead 21-8.
The Eagles were outscored 23-6 in the period.
Patsy Vold was the only bright spot for Brandon, scoring 14 points and shooting 70 percent from the field.
