Man charged with fondling girls

A 24-year-old Port Richey man was arrested Wednesday and charged with fondling three young girls he was babysitting. Kevin Browne was charged with three counts of lewd and lascivious behavior, according to a Pasco County Sheriff's Office report. Browne is accused of fondling the three girls _ 10, 11 and 12 years old _ last month. He also had the girls fondle him and exposed himself to them, the report stated, in the presence of three other girls, 9, 14 and 14 years old. Browne admitted to exposing himself to the girls and also to having them fondle him, the report stated. He was being held at Central Pasco Detention Center in lieu of $50,000 bail.

Pupil finds syringe with cocaine

LACOOCHEE _ An elementary school pupil found a syringe filled with cocaine near the school grounds Tuesday afternoon, according to a Sheriff's Office report. Charlotte Mercer, a kindergarten teacher at Lacoochee Elementary, told deputies that as the class was walking back from the post office, one of the children found a needle on the ground. Mercer turned the needle over to deputies, who tested and found that it contained cocaine.

Offices burglarized in Hudson

HUDSON _ A burglar or burglars struck five professional offices in a strip center early Thursday morning, but only one office was successfully broken into, according to a Sheriff's Office report. The back door of Dr. Ivan Ramos' office, at 8225 State Road 52, was pried off, and file cabinets had been rifled through. However, nothing was reported missing. At four other businesses, burglars tried to pry off back doors but were unsuccessful, the report stated.

Owner finds pygmy goat dead

HUDSON _ Norman Manganello found his missing pet pygmy goat, Tilly, dead in woods near his Wildwood Avenue home this week. Tilly, who has been missing since Sunday night, had been cut and partly skinned, said the 17-year-old Hudson boy. Killer, another pet goat owned by the boy, was found with a slit throat and broken neck in his yard Monday. No arrest had been made in the case as of Thursday.
