USF homecoming in full tilt

Ah, college homecoming . . . the smiles . . . the big game.

Well, the University of South Florida's (USF) big homecoming basket-Bull game took place Thursday, but the college's Tampa campus still has many homecoming festivities planned today and Saturday. They include:

ENGINEERING EXPO _ The USF Engineering Expo will be from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. today and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the school's College of Engineering complex. The expo will include displays and exhibits throughout the building.

CASINO NIGHT _ Casino Night is scheduled for 7:30 tonight in the college's Special Events Center. The $5 admission will include food and beer. Music will be by the Platters, and casino games will be played with "Bull Bucks."

COMEDY _ Paul Rodriguez, Filmore and the Backtrack Blues Band will perform at 8 p.m. Saturday in the college's Sun Dome. Tickets are $5 for students (at the Sun Dome Box Office only), $10 in advance and $12 the day of the event. Tickets are available through Ticketmaster and the Sun Dome Box Office. CARNIVAL _ A Homecoming Carnival will be held from 1 p.m. Saturday to 1 a.m. Sunday at the USF Soccer Stadium. The carnival includes midway rides, concessions, the crowning of the Homecoming King and Queen, music by reggae/rock band One and fireworks at midnight. Admission, rides and music are free.

SUN 'N' FUN ROMP _ A Sun 'n' Fun Romp, a 1.5-mile non-competitive run, is scheduled for 1 p.m. Saturday in the college's Physical Education Building. Participants who correctly guess their finishing time win a Carnival USF: Back to the Beach souvenir. The event is free.

PARADE _ A Homecoming Parade, featuring more than 50 entries, will follow a route across the college's campus at 2 p.m. The parade will start at the intersection of Magnolia and W Holly and proceed east down W Holly, then take a right onto E Holly, and another right on Maple. It will continue on Maple to the USF soccer stadium parking lot.

BULLROAST _ The annual Bullroast barbecue will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday at the college's soccer stadium. The event includes various free games and events, including a tug-of-war. Cost for the barbecue is $5.
