Saturday was made-to-order for CBS.
The U.S. hockey team won again, decisively, and the game was shown live.
Herschel Walker made his debut in the two-man bobsled.
Dan Jansen failed again to win the gold in the men's 500-meter speed skating race _ but what a story.
Three Americans competed in the men's figure skating final.
Today, CBS probably would like to have some of those events back.
There are plenty of interesting events to showcase, but precious few Americans to focus on. Today is the day CBS will have to stand on its own merits.
Sunday is a big ratings day, especially during February sweeps month. CBS can fill a slow weekday with features and taped events that highlight American performers.
Here's hoping CBS will lock into today's Canada-Unified Team hockey game, which will be shown live during the 3:30-6 p.m. segment. (The game starts at 2:15 p.m.)
If the game is lopsided, there isn't much left.
Hopefully, the network won't show another outdated feature like Saturday's on the speed skater from Japan who fell after colliding with Jansen in 1988 _ but who didn't qualify for these Games.
