Editor's note

"Top of the Class" received a nice note from Jean Wilks, who works at Pasadena Manor nursing home. She reads current events from the St. Petersburg Times to residents.

"At times, I'm hard-pressed to find news they'd like to hear," Mrs. Wilks wrote. "(Feb. 4) when I read (to) them about your Times' school page, everyone was very pleased. The young folk are always on our minds. . . . We all wish you well with (this) new project."

We are eager to bring the news about the achievements of the south Pinellas County public and private school students. We want to hear from you on upcoming events, outstanding students, innovative teachers and helpful volunteers who make the schools a brighter place.

And thank you, Mrs. Wilks. Your note tells us that everyone _ young and old _ can appreciate "Top of the Class." Please submit information at least 10 days before an event. And whenever possible, also submit photos of the achievers. Write Sherry Robinson, assistant city editor, "Top of the Class," P.O. Box 1121, St. Petersburg 33731.
