Man is shot twice in the back

Andrea Flagler, 17, of 7004 Kissimmee St., Tampa, was shot twice in the back Monday night in front of his Port Tampa home, officials said. Tampa police Lt. Larry Pinkerton said the shooting followed a car chase between Flagler and two other men. Flagler was taken to Tampa General Hospital, where he was listed in stable condition Monday night. The men drove away in a light gray '70s Datsun or Toyota with tinted windows.

Log cabin destroyed

by fire Monday

TAMPA _ A log cabin in northwest Hillsborough County was destroyed by fire Monday, Hillsborough fire officials said. The fire, at 12120 Tarpon Springs Road, started just before 5 p.m., Hillsborough Fire Cpt. Michael Duffey said. The cause of the fire was undetermined Monday night, and there were no injuries. The fire gutted the nearly 50-year-old cabin, Duffey said.

Pair of dolphins died

from natural causes

TAMPA _ The Florida Marine Patrol said two dead dolphins were pulled from Hillsborough Bay late Monday. A female dolphin, more than 8 feet long, was pulled ashore at Bayshore and Bay Vista boulevards. A male dolphin, nearly 7 feet long, was hauled in at Bayshore Boulevard and the Davis Islands bridge, patrol officer Raymond Sherertz said. A necropsy was conducted Monday night by Dena Gross Leavengood, a local biologist. Leavengood said the two deaths were not related and were natural. Leavengood said the female had given birth recently, but the calf was nowhere to be seen.
