Glassy-eyed

A production operator at IBM's Essex Junction, Vt. semiconductor facility looks through a glass mask used in the manufacture of a new 16-million-bit memory chip. The fingernail-sized chips, unveiled Tuesday, can store the equivalent of about 1,600 pages of double-spaced, typewritten text _ four times the capacity of today's most advanced memory chips.
