Hudson woman injured in crash at intersection

A 39-year-old Hudson woman was in serious condition Tuesday at Bayfront Medical Center after an accident at the intersection of Little Road and Hudson Avenue.

At 9:35 a.m., Frances LaFave was driving her 1979 Ford car south on Little Road. Dean Grubbs, 30, was heading east on Hudson in a 1978 Chevrolet pickup truck.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, LaFave pulled into the path of Grubbs' pickup. He stepped on the brake, troopers say, but was unable to avoid smashing into the driver's side of the woman's car.

LaFave was flown by helicopter to the St. Petersburg hospital with serious injuries. Grubbs was treated for minor injuries at HCA Bayonet Point/Hudson Medical Center. LaFave has been charged with violating Grubbs' right of way, according to the Highway Patrol.
