Two auto burglary suspects told detectives this week that they entered hundreds of unlocked cars in southwest Pasco and north Pinellas counties. However, Pasco detectives have linked them only to about 30 auto burglaries, and Pinellas officials have substantiated only five charges in Pinellas. Donald Ramsey, 30, and a 16-year-old accomplice say they took property and cash from as many as 300 vehicles to buy crack cocaine, according to detectives. According to Pinellas Sheriff's Office spokesman Sgt. Greg Tita, the suspects said they entered numerous cars, but only a few contained anything worth taking. Ramsey was arrested last week on burglary and grand theft charges and has been in the Land O'Lakes jail. Ramsey's accomplice was arrested Tuesday, the day he was supposed to enroll as a student at Gulf High School. He was being held in Pasco's Juvenile Detention Center Wednesday. His bail had not been set.
