Man is charged with aggravated assault

Police arrested a man Tuesday after he threatened to shoot police and himself. After receiving a call about a child being abducted, Gulfport police arrived at 2313 58th St. S. about 3:55 p.m. to find Ralph O. Brantley with a handgun, police said. Police said Brantley, 43, threatened to shoot poice officers and himself, but Detective William Brinkworth convinced Brantley to put down the gun. Brantley lives at that address. Pinellas County Jail recoreds show he was charged with one count of domestic batteryu and five counts of aggravated assault. He was being held in the jail Wednesday afternoon in lieu of $11,000 bail. No further information was avialable WEdnesday afternoon.
