A one-woman show by Sherry Kalman, who paints with oils and is a descendant of the Finnish artist Aksel Gallen Kallela, opens with a reception at 7 p.m. today at the Tarpon Springs Cultural Center, 101 S Pinellas Ave., Tarpon Springs. She has participated in numerous shows, and in 1990 her work was chosen for exhibition in the Capitol gallery in Tallahassee. She is volunteer curator for the Tarpon Springs Cultural Center and teaches oil painting at the Craig Park Recreation Center. Call 942-5605.

Theater

Three local students are featured in major roles in the PACT Performance Co.s production of Ron Cowen's Summertree, scheduled today through Sunday and Wednesday through March 1 at Ruth Eckerd Hall's Studio One, 1111 McMullen-Booth Road, Clearwater. Appearing are Kenneth E. Parrish, a senior at Osceola High School; Tyson B. Duane, a seventh-grade honors student at Safety Harbor Middle School, and Stefanie L. Cohen, a student at St. Petersburg Junior College. Tickets are $8 and are available by calling 791-7400.

The Patchwork Players, a professional adult touring company in its 12th season touring the southeastern and mid-Atlantic states, is making the Patchwork Playhouse at Boatyard Village its resident theater and opening with a production of The Tale of Peter Rabbit at 7 p.m. today and 11 a.m. Saturday at Boatyard Village, 16100 Fairchild Drive off Roosevelt Boulevard.
