Cougars fall 2-1 in 4A-II sectional

For the first time all season, Countryside got caught up in someone else's game in Friday night's Class 4A, Section II final. And for the first time in almost 1{ years, Countryside took a postgame stroll down a different path.

A beaten one.

Defender Hunter Goff assisted on a first-half goal and scored one of his own with with 1:30 remaining in play, leading Chamberlain to a 2-1 victory over the previously undefeated Cougars in the 4A-II championship game at Countryside's field.

The victory propels the Chiefs (18-1-1) into the 4A state tournament, to be played at Tampa's Pepin/Rood Stadium next weekend.

Countryside, which entered the contest unbeaten in 41 consecutive games, ends its season 21-1-1.

"We did not play our game and they played theirs, and the result was we lost to a fine team," said Countryside coach Ron Marn.
