Brian Clark sloshed for 92 rushing yards and two touchdowns and David York scored two more on a pass and a lateral recovery to boost Northside Christian to a 28-6 victory over Admiral Farragut Academy on Friday night.
The win pushed the Mustangs record to 2-1, 1-0 in Class A, District 6. The Blue Jackets fell to 1-3, 1-2 in the district, and have lost three straight.
A driving rain contributed to 10 fumbles and seven turnovers and figured in the scoring. The Blue Jackets rushed for only 7 yards, the Mustangs for 145.
The Blue Jackets fumbled away their first possession. Clark made the recovery, then promptly punched it in three plays later from 3 yards out.
Joe Sawyer's interception set up the Blue Jackets for their only score. Quarterback Shannon Stengel hit Pablo Cortes from 6 yards out with two seconds left in the first period.
Midway through the second, Stengel's lateral pass was fumbled by Marek Butcher and picked up by York, who ran 33 yards for the score.
The Mustangs added their third score on a 9-play, 47-yard drive capped by Clark's 7-yard run in the third period.
Nate Stevenson's fumble recovery set up the Mustangs' final score in the fourth period, a 4-yard toss from quarterback Bryan Freese to York.
