A taxi driver died Saturday morning when his cab was struck by a delivery truck that ran a stop sign, the Florida Highway Patrol said. Francis N. Lanko, 40, of Port Richey was traveling west on Spring Hill Drive about 6:30 a.m. when he was struck by Wayne Mark Rasper, 44, of Brooksville, according to the patrol. Rasper said he was driving south on Pinehurst Drive and couldn't stop at a stop sign, Trooper Clarence Williams said. Rasper had minor injuries. There were no passengers in the cab, owned by a Clearwater cab company.

TAMPA _ Congress has approved funding for Tampa's proposed $8.9-million federal courthouse complex, officials announced Saturday. The courthouse money, included in the Treasury, Post Office and General Government appropriations bill, is now awaiting President Bush's signature. The site for the new complex is expected to be announced later this month, Hillsborough County Bar Association past president Marsh Rydberg said.

TAMPA _ A Hudson man was killed early Saturday when he drove his car under a semitrailer truck, the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office reported. The truck was southbound on Sun State Boulevard, attempting to make a left turn onto Waters Avenue at 3:14 a.m., when a westbound 1978 Pontiac went underneath the truck, officials said. Killed was George Joseph Frugoso, 22, of 13103 Cypress Hill Drive No. 1 in Hudson. The driver of the truck was not injured. The investigation is continuing.

DOVER _ A woman was killed early Saturday when the car in which she was a passenger ran a stop sign, hit an oak tree and caught fire, the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office reported. The car was eastbound on Wheeler Road at Gallagher Road about 2:40 a.m. when the accident happened. The woman, who has not been identified, died at the scene, said sheriff's Sgt. Nelson Zalva. Authorities late Saturday were still looking for the driver of the car, who ran away after the crash. The investigation is continuing.
