Citrus commission meets Tuesday at courthouse

The County Commission meets at 1 p.m. Tuesday on the second floor of the new county courthouse in Inverness.

Here is a brief look at some of the items on the agenda. Items with a time noted can begin no earlier than the appointed hour, but often begin later.

Items for which no time is mentioned may be considered at any time during the meeting.

1:05 p.m.: Employee service pins to be presented.

1:10 p.m.: Resolution commemorating the 500th anniversary of Christopher Columbus' landmark voyage.

1:15 p.m.: Resolution proclaiming October "Crime Prevention Month."

2:15 p.m.: Discussion on using tourist tax revenues to subsidize Country Lifestyles magazine.

2:30 p.m.: Request to waive impact fees for three town houses in Twin Lakes off Gospel Island Road.

2:45 p.m.: Discussion of the county's Hazardous Materials emergency Plan.

5:01 p.m.: Workshop on a comprehensive plan amendment.

Also to be considered:

A plan to seek proposals to refinance the debt on the landfill.

Appointment of Jean Grant and Royce Carter to the transportation disadvantaged coordinating board.

Proposed changes to the county's utility billing procedures. The changes would give customers five more days to make their payments. Service would not be cut off until 38 days after a bill's due date, rather than the current 25 days.

A proposal to end the county's fixed-route rapid transit system.

Florida Rock Industries' suit against Citrus County.
