Walter Mosley's black World War II vet turned entreprenuerial investigator returns in a third episode following Devil in a Blue Dress and A Red Death.

It's now 1956 in Watts. Easy is married with children and called in by the LAPD to track down the killer of a white "party girl" whose father is a city prosecutor. The official interest in the death of girls of easy virtue comes only after three black women were murdered in the same fashion.

Mosley's literary heft translates the action into the anguish of an era _ pre-Civil Rights America.
