Now that we've found Waldo, the search begins for Prince Charles and Princess Di. And we don't mean in the supermarket tabloids.
If you're a royals fan, check out the new Where's Charles & Di? book by Jim Becker, Andy Mayer and illustrator Bron Smith (Ten Speed Press; $9.95).
Capturing the spirit of the Where's Waldo series of children's books and doing a parody of it with the recent Where's Dan Quayle? the team of authors has created eight action-packed scenes from the couple's royal wedding to the Taj Mahal in India.
And there's a little bonus game, to see how many of the couple's influential friends and family are depicted. Look for it in bookstores.
THINK ABOUT IT: Got a youngster in the house between the ages of 8 and 17? He or she could win big prizes, such as a $1,000 U.S. savings bond for an energy-conservation idea.
Here's the scoop. The 3M company is sponsoring the Saving Energy contest for kids 8 to 12 and 13 to 17, in which the contestant comes up with an idea to help conserve home energy used for heating and cooling and then writes it in 50 words or less.
Support material, detailed explanations, diagrams or photos can be attached. The ideas must focus on ways to use less energy or innovative uses of energy-saving products such as weather stripping.
When referring to products, ideas can incorporate items on the market or new concepts created by the student. Deadline is March 1, 1993. So type it up, stuff it in a legal-size envelope (with child's age in lower left corner) and send to 3M Saving Energy, Department PR, 530 Fifth Ave., New York, N.Y. 10036.
