An elderly man drove his car off the road and into the woods Monday afternoon after apparently having a heart attack, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. The man, whose name was withheld until his family could be notified, was pronounced dead shortly after the accident, which occurred at 1:10 p.m. on Lake Lindsey Road, north of Brooksville. The man was traveling east on Lake Lindsey when his 1984 Buick left the road on the south shoulder and ran into the woods. No other vehicles were involved. No passengers were in the car.
"Freak wave' capsizes boat
INVERNESS - Two crabbers were rescued Monday after their craft overturned about a half-mile off Hernando Beach, according to U.S. Coast Guard officials. John Prater, 43, and Rick Krause, 38, both of Homosassa, were found clinging to their capsized 24-foot boat after it was hit by a wave, said Petty Officer Ken Ennenga. Ennenga said the two men had been hauling stone crabs. About 11 a.m., they stopped to switch fuel tanks and a "freak wave" came over the stern and capsized the boat. Workers on a mullet boat spotted the men 35 minutes later.
