Kids get a chance to vote

Target stores and Nickelodeon, a children's cable television network, have teamed for "Kids Pick the President," an educational program about voting.

Target stores nationwide will become polling places for children through Oct. 17. At the stores, children can cast a vote for George Bush, Bill Clinton or anyone else they think should be the next president.

In addition, the "Kids Pick" advertisement in Target's Sunday newspaper supplement will include information about qualities to look for in a president, historical facts about presidents and elections and the meaning of words such as "polling place," "democracy" and "election."

The ad also will include a ballot children can take to the nearest store. The result of the "Kids Pick" election will be announced Oct. 24 on Nickelodeon.
