Kiwanis elects officers, raises $3,000 for charity

The Carrollwood Kiwanis Club installed new officers at its last meeting at the Carrollwood Golf and Tennis Club.

Mark Proctor, lieutenant governor of the Florida Kiwanis, presided over the event. He retired '91 president Jay C. Sweringen and installed Percy J. Legendre, president; June Cole, president-elect; John Towson, vice president; Julian Underhill, secretary; and Nancy Gordon, treasurer.

Directors include first year: Jay Swearingen, Carole Nall and Richard Johnson, along with second year: Gregory Parkes, Steve Woodard and Ray Reid.

Legendre also announced the club raised $3,000 from its recent spaghetti dinner. The money will be donated to the Faith Children's Home and other charities at the next board meeting at noon Wednesdays at the Carrollwood Golf and Tennis Club.
