DEATHS

DENHOLM ELLIOTT, 70, one of Britain's most popular character actors, died Tuesday on the island of Ibiza. His agent, Jean Diamond, said in London that Mr. Elliott died as a result of "tuberculosis which was AIDS-related." Mr. Elliott had a distinguished career in stage and films over about 40 years. His film roles included A Room With a View, the Cruel Sea, the Defense of the Realm, and Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade.
