A Trilby man died in a Tuesday afternoon crash at U.S. 301 and U.S. 98, about 6 miles north of Dade City, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. Leonard J. Maher, 67, of Trilby died at the scene. Also injured were Angela Brooks, 27, and her son Wayland, 4. The Florida Highway Patrol said Maher was traveling north on U.S. 301 about 2 p.m. when he turned his 1983 Honda left onto U.S. 98. His car hit Ms. Brooks' 1988 Buick, which was traveling south on U.S. 301. Ms. Brooks was flown by helicopter to St. Joseph's Hospital in Tampa; her son was taken by ambulance to Humana Hospital in Dade City. On Tuesday evening, a spokeswoman at St. Joseph's said Ms. Brooks was being treated in the emergency room, but was in satisfactory condition. Her son had been treated and released.
