Awaiting arraignment

Thomas P. Duckett Jr. sits in Hillsborough Circuit Court on Wednesday before being arraigned on 35 charges, including five counts of second-degree murder, stemming from a crash that killed five people. Duckett, 28, is wearing a head-and-neck brace because of a spinal fracture he received in the accident. He is accused of driving his car into a group of people stranded on Interstate 75 when their church bus broke down Sept. 11. The Florida Highway Patrol reported that Duckett's blood-alcohol content was .226, more than twice the level at which the law presumes impairment.
