While many residents were away for the summer, burglars broke into 11 recreational vehicles in the Hillcrest RV Resort on Lane Road. Authorities say most of the break-ins probably occurred in the past week. The Sheriff's Office was called Wednesday after one of the residents came home from an overnight trip to find the home ransacked and a VCR, coins and jewelry missing. From there, a search of the park revealed several other burglaries. Authorities say someone entered the RV homes by cutting screens and prying open windows and doors. Once inside, the thieves ransacked several of the residences. Because so many of the residents were still out of town, police did not yet know exactly what was stolen.
