Magazine cites local companies on growth

What do a Clearwater wholesaler of auto stereo parts, a vending machine company in Tampa and a Safety Harbor money management company have in common?

They and three other bay area companies were named to the 1992 Inc. magazine's list of the 500 fastest-growing private companies in America (based on sales growth from 1987 to 1991).

"Meet the companies that have been creating _ not cutting _ jobs over the past five years, the companies whose minimum growth rate has topped 600 percent during that time period. These are the exceptional companies, the growth leaders in an otherwise sluggish national economy," reads the introduction to the list in October's issue of Inc.

The six Tampa Bay companies on the list employed 131 people and racked up $41-million in sales in 1991.

They are:

AAMP of America, ranked 33rd. The Clearwater company wholesales auto stereo parts. From 1987 to 1991, sales grew more than 5,000 percent, to $6.7-million.

Florida Infusion, No. 34. The Palm Harbor company distributes pharmaceuticals and medical supplies. Sales rose 5,000 percent, to nearly $22-million.

Tampa Bay Vending, No. 82. The Tampa company operates a full-line vending company. Sales rose 2,541 percent to $2.7-million in 1991.

Dazser & Dazser/MD, No. 202. The Tampa company subfranchises Jani-King commercial cleaning operations. Sales rose 1,300 percent to $5.2-million in 1991.

LBS Capital Management, No. 240. The Safety Harbor company provides investment advice and money management services. Sales rose 1,154 percent to just over $2-million.

Complete Property Services, No. 438. The Oldsmar company provides general contracting and insurance services. Sales increased nearly 700 percent, to $2.4-million.
