Northeast can throw the ball, too.
Shawn Austin proved that Friday night as he tossed four touchdown passes to lead the Vikings (4-0) to a 31-7 romp over host Largo (2-3) in a non-district game.
Northeast, which is off to its best start since 1988, showcased its powerful ground game as it took just 1:36 to march 50 yards in five plays on a drive that was capped by Keith Crosby's 3-yard touchdown burst up the middle.
But it was what Austin and the Northeast coaches saw on that first drive that led to the Vikings' change of plans.
"Our running game is so strong and that helps make it easier for us to develop a passing game," said Austin, who completed nine passes for 157 yards.
