Denise Meeker changed her mind about giving her newborn baby up for adoption. After fighting a cocaine addiction and losing a custody ruling, she still hasn't given up.
Ms. Meeker, whose baby Lauren was taken by police Thursday, has fought attempts to enforce an adoption contract she signed Aug. 18, the day her daughter was born.
The woman said she changed her mind the day after signing the contract giving her $2,000, which she hasn't returned, to cover her medical and living expenses.
Alan Braverman, her attorney, has said a mother's consent for adoption must be given voluntarily and without duress.
But Circuit Judge John Hoy ruled earlier this month that Ms. Meeker's consent was valid, sources told the Sun-Sentinel of Fort Lauderdale.
