King senior kicker Glenn Slagle usually scores one point at a time as a member of the Lions soccer team, but last Thursday night he came close to recording the equivalent of four hat tricks with 11 points.
However, it was the Lions football team that benefited from Slagle's foot in King's 41-9 win over Bloomingdale.
He kicked field goals of 27 and 46 yards and added five extra points against the Bulls.
In five games this season he has five field goals and 10 extra points for 25. The Lions are now 4-1 at the season's midway point.
His effort in the victory over Bloomingdale was the Hillsborough County high school athletic Performance of the Week.
"He had a solid performance for us last week and all season," said King assistant coach Derreck Gaines. "We run our offense with Slagle in mind. We believe that if we get on the other team's side of the 50-yard-line, we have a chance to score because of his foot. He is pretty consistent between 40-50 yards out."
Other outstanding football performances were turned in by Hillsborough's senior running back Corey Durant who scored all three touchdowns in the Terriers' 20-0 victory over Plant last Thursday night.
The three scores brought Durant's total points for the first five games of the season to 56. He trails Jesuit's Morris Harris, who has 60 points, in a tight county scoring race.
Durant leads all Hillsborough County rushers with 594 yards on 89 attempts.
Robinson junior running back Alford Daniel also scored three rushing touchdowns in the Knights' 29-3 win over Tampa Bay Vo-Tech last Thursday night.
Daniel scored on runs of 16, 60 and 74 yards. His total for the year is now seven touchdowns for 42 points.
Jefferson sophomore running back Jamal Anderson rushed only 60 yards on 15 carries, but his runs included three touchdowns to help the Dragons pull off a 30-21 upset of Armwood last Friday night.
Jefferson quarterback Angel Diez connected on 12 of 22 passes for 236 yards and one touchdown to Armand Akiboh to aid in the victory.
Armwood quarterback Ricardo Watson connected on 14 of 24 passes for two aerial touchdowns in the loss.
Andre Stewart, Tampa Catholic's junior quarterback, passed for three touchdowns in the Crusaders 33-6 victory over Lake Placid last Friday.
He connected on 10 of 18 throws for 128 yards for the night bringing his season total to 19 of 45 for 374 yards and seven touchdowns.
Elijah Powell normally leads the Crusaders offensive thrust with a consistent ground game. Powell rushed for 206 yards and two touchdowns against Lake Placid.
Currently, he is second behind Durant in rushing yards with 540 yards.
Rob Humphries paced Providence Christian in its 43-0 win over Eastland with 102 yards and two touchdowns. He added an 82-yard touchdown on a kickoff return.
Berkeley Prep's senior place kicker Matt Hill maintained his position as the county's leading scorer by kicking two extra points and a 38-yard field goal in the Buc's 17-7 victory over Northside Christian Friday night.
Hill now has 33 points, which includes one rushing touchdown.
