The members of the Orlando-based contemporary jazz band A.K.A. are experts at arts and jazz festival performances. They have entertained at dozens of them in Florida since the band's inception seven years ago.

A.K.A. has performed at the Disney Jazz Festival and has opened for many concert acts including the Neville Brothers and Larry Carlton.

"We're the opening band," said keyboardist Mike Avila. "We open concerts all the time."

The band recently switched from a four-piece to a six-piece combo, adding percussionist Orlando Sanchez and guitarist Barry Greene of Tampa.

"A lot of our music is a little bit Latin-based," Avila said.

This will be A.K.A.'s first performance at the Clearwater Jazz Holiday.
