Capitals rookie Woolley sustains broken wrist

Jason Woolley, a rookie defenseman for the Washington Capitals, broke his left wrist in a game against the New Jersey Devils.

Capitals coach Terry Murray said the injury happened in the first period of Monday night's game, when Woolley collided with teammate Kelly Miller and Alexander Semak of the Devils while making a move toward the Devils net.

Woolley, the Capitals' fourth choice in the 1989 draft, had seven assists for Canada in the Winter Olympics. He later spent 15 games with Baltimore last season before making his NHL debut against the Devils on April 12, his only game last season.
